I’m home now and on the mend (hopefully). I’d like to thank all those who helped me get here, especially those wonderful people at the University College London Hospital.
While it could be a few months yet till I’m fully functional, I’m already feeling substantially better than before.
Beyond Crazy
Crazy times

As many have realised, I’ve not had much time to blog in the last couple of years.
But I have a little enforced downtime, so I thought I’d post to keep more distant friends in the loop.
So where am I? There’s a clue in my attire.
On the 16th of April 2011, I’m ten floors above the Euston Rd, a resident of an NHS hospital.
Oddly this isn’t a bad thing, because the alternative is not to be here at all.
A while ago I made some poor lifestyle choices, and then a worse one when. I started to have a medical issue that could easily have killed me. I’ve just paid some of the due on those actions; I’ve spent a year turning myself into the paragon of male lifestyle virtue and ditched 90lbs of fat in the process. That was all to spend 5 hours on the operating table, and two days on morphine, but live.
This picture is me at surgery +3, and while I’ve got some scars that trumps anything I that famous Jaws scene, and a few excess external connectors, compared with others in my ward this is small beer.
I wasn’t looking for fallback, just to tell those who don’t see me often that I’m fine. Onwards, and upwards.
Kick-Ass!!!!
Got to see this superb movie about two weeks back, and at last I can tell people about it.

This is a great show, even if the DVD release doesn’t actually build much on that.
Vantage Point on Blu-ray review
I’m going to keep this review as spoiler-free as I can, so I’m not be divulging the plot twist that is supposed to be the highlight of this movie. Partly because in my opinion it’s not worth actually telling people, and everyone should get the chance to shout at the screen Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot at that juncture.
But to be honest it wasn’t the only time I was forced to voice my incredulity as the events portrayed in this movie, whole sections make about as much sense as Amy Whinehouse does after a complete bender.
If you didn’t catch the promotions for this movie the premise is simple, if not borrowed from at least three other movies I can think of. We’re presented with 23 minutes or time which usually runs to about 10 minutes of screentime, in which the same events are seen from a different perspective. With each ‘vantage point’ we get more information about the characters, their motivations and additional clues to what’s actually going on. Which, unsurprisingly, isn’t what we’re initially drawn to think.
